Sage Tip - Repair and Compact

Sage Payroll allows you to choose between faster less bulky backups and fully encrypted data backups, whichever you choose, it's advisable to run the repair and compact routine on a regular basis.

To Repair & Compact your Database

Note: If you have a multi-company licence, you must run the Repair & Compact utility for for each company.

1 Ensure Sage Payroll is closed.

2 From the Windows start menu, chose Programs, Sage Tools and then Repair and Compact Database Utility. The Repair and Compact utility appears, you will see your companies details displayed.

3 From the company list, select the relevant company and then to Repair and Compact the database, click repair.

NOTE: The time required to complete the process depends on the size of the database. A message will appear telling you the Repair and Compact process was successful. If an error occurs and you are unable to Repair and Compact your database, reboot your PC and try again. If problems persist, make a note of any error messages and contact Sage Technical Support on 0845 1115555.

4 To confirm the successful Repair and Compact of your database click OK.

NOTE: Although there is a separate Compact button within the Repair and Compact Database Utility, running Repair completes both routines at the same time.

The Repair and Compact window will close automatically.

You have successfully Repaired and Compacted your Sage Payroll data.
