Sage Tips - Importing via .CSV
Firstly if you need data imported we can supply a
consultant to do this for you, in addition if you are
moving from QuickBooks to Sage Line 50, we may be able
to convert your data for you, even including
transactional data.
However, if you decide to try it yourself:
Sage Line 50 does include import routines, they are used
to import externally generated transactions or just to
make setting up a new system quicker and easier.
Import is a little dated and does not support the same
types of entries as Line 50 does natively, for example
characters such as & are fine in accounts you create in
L50.
The CSV format also places restrictions, you can not use
" or , in any fields. (remember, if your existing system
can export to either Excel or .CSV you can probably
import this data into your new Line 50 software.)
Not all fields can be imported and you will still have
to set flags manually, so this is not a perfect
solution, although it will save a lot of work.
- Make sure that the data is valid and complies
with the rules
- Get the fields in the right order
- Import
- Fix any problems highlighted by the import.
If you are at all unsure what to do yourself or for
any advanced importing, we would suggest giving us a
call to discuss what can or can't be imported and if
it's practical to attempt yourself. |
