Sage Tip - Data Backup
Your Sage backup procedures are crucial to your
business and it's future.
Imagine the worst happened:
- You have a break in and someone stole your PC or
Server
- There is a flood and your hardware gets soaked
and ruined
- A fire sweeps through the building destroying
everything
- The hard drive gets corrupted
........................etc
It is possible if one of these happened that your
entire business could collapse, if you have no record of
who owes you how much and when it's due.
The easy solution to this is make sure you back up your
information regularly and take the copy off site. You
should back up on a daily basis, although backing up
weekly or even monthly is better than not at all. Think
of it like this, "how much data can I afford to lose?
how much time will I spend re-keying it all if I were to
lose it?" This should allow you to come to your own
conclusions about the regularity of backups.
There are numerous ways to backup nowadays including
remote backup where your data is backed up over the
internet to a secure site, tape devices, CD and DVD.
It may seem like a small inconvenience to do this, but
imagine what it will save you if the worst did happen! |
