Sage Construction with Payroll 2011 Fix Available

During testing of Sage Construction against Sage 50 Payroll 2011 Sage identified an issue regarding internet submissions. If you install Sage 50 Payroll 2011 on a pc that has Sage 50 or Sage 200 Construction installed, Internet Submissions via Construction will fail.

The temporary workaround was to use a pc that has Construction installed either without Sage 50 Payroll or with a version below Sage 50 Payroll 2011, in order to allow internet submissions and Subcontractor verifications via Construction to continue.

The Issue is now resolved:

To allow Internet Submissions and Verifications to continue whilst using Sage 50 Payroll 2011, the Construct file ACcsUtilities.dll needs to be replaced on each client pc.

Please note there are separate files for each version of Construct (11.6.2, 12.0 & 14.0) – all patches can be downloaded from the Sage website, or contact us for download links.

Emailing from Sage 50

How to Email Orders, Invoices and Quotes

From within your Sage 50 Accounts 2011 program, you can email documents directly to your customers and suppliers, saving on office overheads (paper, postage, printing and labour) whilst doing your bit for the environment by heading towards that paperless office environment, here’s how:

From within your Sage 50 product, you must first set up the email layouts, this can be found inside the settings (Invoice and Order Defaults) Email tab, from here you can define the specific layouts to be used.

Once this is configured to send out an order, invoice or quote, all you need to do is select it from the list and click on “email”, it’s that easy and could save you some time and money.

You can also keep track of whats already been sent by viewing the Emailed column in each area.

The Specified Data Source Could Not Be Found

If when you are running a report or layout in Sage 50 Accounts 2010 from a previous version, you may get the following message:

“The specified data source could not be found. Check that the data source is correctly registered”

If you edit the problem report or layout when the message appears, you will likely either see no variables or tables in the in the variables pane, or in data>Joins, you get the message “Object reference not set to an instance of an object”

All you need to do is reset the data source within the layout or report, you can do this by:

Edit the report or layout>Data>Change Report Data Source>New Data Source>select Sageline50v16>OK>OK

Then File>Save>File>Exit

Here is a short video giving a brief overview of how to configure the chart of accounts in Sage 50 Accounts.

Sage 50 2010 – Recurring Entries in Bank Module

A small issue has been identified in Sage 50 Accounts 2010 within a subset of recurring entries in the Bank module.  This is isolated to a small number of customers who have upgraded to Sage 50 Accounts 2010 who are using bank recurring entries and does not affect new customers.

Who does it affect?

Only customers upgrading from a previous version of Sage Accounts to Sage 50 Accounts 2010 will be affected. New customers installing for the first time will not be affected.

What you need to do

For new customers, it is business as usual however we are advising existing customers not to install their upgrade until the update is available.  In the meantime, do not use the recurring entries in the Bank module however, you can continue to process any other transactions.

A fix should be available shortly and Sage will be in touch to let you know as soon as this is ready.

What Sage is doing

Currently working on an update to fix the issue which will be made available via the auto-update service soon. Customers are being advised not to upgrade until this is available. Sage will be contacting customers directly to advise them of the issue.

How to get the update as soon as possible

In order to guarantee that you receive any automatic updates as soon as they become available take the following action:

  • Within Sage Accounts, click Tools > Internet Options > Software Updates, ensure the following option is selected:Check for Sage software updates but ask me whether I want to download and install them [Recommended]By selecting this option Sage Accounts will automatically check for any new updates every 7 days. Sage 50 Accounts – Error 42S22 in Reports

2. Error List pane / select the first error, then:
If the cause of the error is a variable, that variable is selected on the design window. Click the variable / click on Delete / then replace the variable if required.

3. Make sure that you save the document with a new description and file name.
4. Run the report again, you should find that it will run without any problems.
