The beauty of Builder Books is it's sheer simplicity.
If you are a small building company and would like to
use purpose built construction software to manage your
accounts, job costing and CIS returns, Builder Books is
the product for you.
This "out of the box" software package not only manages
your construction accounting process, but also
integrates with Estimator Xpress, offering a total
software solution from estimating right through to
invoicing and applications for payment. This type of
software has traditionally been used by the larger
construction companies to streamline their processes and
improve profits, however, Builder Books is a single user
system competitively priced for the smaller building
company.
Software Features
Job Costing
Users can very quickly create a costing template
which could be different for every job, alternatively if
using Estimator Xpress the whole job structure can be
imported at the click of a button. From then, as all
transactions such as invoices and applications are
raised the job is updated and costs and sales will
appear in your reports.
Variations
An unlimited number of variations can be added to
each job allowing accurate costing if the specification
of works changes as the job progresses.
CIS Processing
You record each subcontractors card details, then
Builder Books will automatically deduct tax where
appropriate, warn you if a card expires, do all
necessary calculations and print the vouchers, all based
on purchase invoice entry and payment runs which you
will be doing already.
(Automatic free system update for April 2007)
Nominal Ledger
The default nominal structure within Builder Books is
designed specifically for the construction industry, but
can easily be amended when the system is set up. If you
have an existing nominal structure this could be
imported (from Excel format). The nominal ledger has all
the usual accounting functions you would expect, such
as, reporting, journals, period and year end routines.
Purchase Ledger
When a Purchase Order is received and entered onto
the system the figures are automatically posted through
to the Job Costing area, this guarantees your reports
are completely up to date. The due date is automatically
calculated based on the terms you have agreed with each
supplier. Automate your payment runs and print cheques,
produce remittance advices , do part payments or place
them on hold.
Sales Ledger
Raise Invoices, Sales Applications and Certificates.
Retentions can also be tracked, with the flexibility to
adjust due dates according to how the contract is
progressing.
Reporting with Builder Books
A full suite of reports is included, including
accountancy based such as annual reports, whilst the
contracting module enables users to
track jobs, identify overspends and streamline the
business.
Integration
Builder Books also links directly to both
Estimator Xpress and
Health and Safety Xpert,
offering a complete solution from initial quote, through
costing and accounts and generating health and safety
documentation.
